// About

Built for developers who value speed and privacy.

DevSpeedTools is a small, focused toolbox for the things developers do every day — convert formats, format code, validate syntax, encode data. Every tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded, and you never need an account.

// Why

Why client-side?

Most developer tools either upload your data to a server or show ads everywhere. We chose the harder path: run the tools in JavaScript so your data never leaves your device. It's better for privacy and usually faster too. When you paste a YAML file into our converter, the parsing happens in your browser's JavaScript engine — no network request is made with your data. This means the tools work offline once loaded, process data instantly without server latency, and keep your sensitive configuration files, API keys, and personal data completely private.

// What

What's available now

The initial release covers 45 tools across YAML, JSON, encoding, decoding, formatting, validation, and generation. You can convert YAML to JSON, format messy JSON, decode JWT tokens, generate UUIDs, test regular expressions, look up HTTP status codes, and much more. Every tool is free to use with no signup required.

// How

How it's built

The site is built with Astro for minimal JavaScript on every page. Tool-specific code is loaded only on the page that needs it, so the homepage loads fast while tool pages include only the libraries they require. The design follows a strict design system — minimal surfaces, restrained colour, real monospace. Every interaction is optimised for keyboard-first use with full screen reader support.

Astro generates static HTML at build time, which means the first paint of every page is a plain HTML document with zero JavaScript overhead. The component architecture keeps tool logic isolated — a YAML converter lives in its own module and is never imported by an unrelated page. This island-style approach keeps bundle sizes small and makes it easy to add new tools without slowing down the rest of the site. Performance is measured with Lighthouse and Core Web Vitals on every deploy, and we target a perfect score on the performance audit.

Our values.

Privacy by default

We don't use analytics on your input data. Google Analytics tracks page visits (with your consent), but we never log what you paste into a tool, what you convert, or what you validate. Your data stays on your device.

No vendor lock-in

Every tool produces standard output — JSON, YAML, Base64, plain text. You can copy the result, download it as a file, or use it in any other tool. We don't add proprietary wrappers or formats.

Works offline

Once a tool page has loaded, it continues to work without an internet connection. The JavaScript bundles and libraries are cached by your browser. You can use DevSpeedTools on a plane, in a secure facility, or anywhere without network access.

International

DevSpeedTools is available in 8 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Korean, and Italian. Every tool page and blog post is translated, and the site automatically detects your preferred language.

// Team

Who runs DevSpeedTools.

DevSpeedTools is built and maintained by a small, independent team of software engineers who have spent most of their careers working on web platforms, APIs, and developer tooling. We are not a funded startup and we are not backed by a data company: this is a side project that grew into a full library of browser-based utilities.

Everything you see is designed, written, and reviewed by the same handful of people. We write the documentation, test every tool in the browsers we use daily, and answer the messages sent through the contact page. Because the team is small, we keep the scope tight: fast pages, no accounts, and no data leaving your device.

At a glance

  • Run by developers, for developers. No marketing layer in between - the people who build the tools also write the docs.
  • Independent and self-funded. Supported by a small amount of advertising; no investor and no data broker behind the site.
  • Written and fact-checked in house. Guides are drafted, reviewed, and updated by the same team that maintains the tools.
  • No user data is collected or sold. Nothing you paste into a tool is stored, logged, or shared with third parties.
